Bozeman girls undefeated ! Win NXN Regionals with 78 points. A
Cannon, Lake, Beach and Hill
When the cannon sounded in Boise, Idaho at the Nike Northwest Regional Andie Creel bravely led her team through the first turn and around the lake. By the beach Caroline Hardin, Aja Starkey and Piper Meuwissen had joined her in a tight pack at the mile mark. Bridget Creel and Sarah Foster were just behind them. As they headed towards the hill Caroline Hardin took over and led the team stongly over the hill. As they passed the start area Piper Meuwissen took charge for the team and bravely led them around the lake steadily picking off other team runners. By the 2nd time over the hill with a half mile remaining it was clear that they had the race in hand. Finally two hours after the race the top 21 girls took the podium with two girls from several teams taking all region honors includling Piper in 14th and Caroline in 18th. Third was announced as Camas led by Alexa Efraimson, the race leader, and then 2nd was “Roar” or Bellarmine Prep. Finally the moment came and Bozeman was announced as the winner with 78 points. Congrats to Bozeman XC for making their 2nd trip to Portland in 4 years. The last 4 years Bozeman has taken a 2nd, 3rd, 8th and now 1st. Two other Montana girls were at the front of the girls race. Makena Morley bravely duked it out with Alexa Efraimson as she ran her last prep race before Footlocker West. The top 5 individuals not on a qualifying team also go to NXN. Sophomore Christina Aragon took 6th place in an incredible race where she put everything out. With Makena opting out for Footlocker Christina also will be making the trip to Portland.
